New EMDRIA Regional Coordinator for the DFW Metroplex East Region

Hi! I am Kendhal Herrera, MA, LPC-S and I am excited to announce my new position as EMDRIA Regional Coordinator for the DFW Metroplex East Region. I look forward to serving my local EMDR community.

I have been in practice since 2008, previously working at Dallas Metrocare Services where I provided individual counseling, managed a DBT Program and an Intensive Outpatient Dual Diagnosis Program. I also worked at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital on their Mobile Crisis Team. In 2013, I went into private practice and have since grown that into a group counseling practice called Dallas Counseling and Treatment Center with offices in Uptown Dallas, Rockwall and Plano. I play a very active role in overseeing operations at DCTC.

I am a member of EMDRIA, a Certified EMDR Therapist and EMDRIA Approved Consultant. I am currently working on my dissertation for a doctoral degree in psychology focused on exploring the relationship between early attachment wounds and Bipolar Disorder. Through my consulting group, ‘The Practice of Therapy,’ I provide guidance to therapists new to or struggling in private practice. I host CEUs and offer one-on-one consulting on the topics of client retention, marketing and advertising, budgeting for private practice, financial management and insurance credentialing.

In combination with my experience at Dallas Metrocare, my EMDR training allowed me to specialize in the treatment of complex trauma and anxiety related disorders including PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Panic Disorder. I also have extensive experience treating all forms of addiction including sex addiction.

I am very passionate about EMDR and have seen it work for my clients in ways that traditional therapy never could. I am looking forward to being more involved with my local EMDR community and hope to build upon the large support network that has been establish in our area. I look forward to meeting with everyone at the upcoming regional meeting.
